Today’s ‘Black/eared Kite’ off the A30 at Camborne. There were likely 5 Buff-breasted Sandpipers at Davidstow. 4 in a distinct tight ‘flock’ together with a single one 250 mtrs away who preferred the company of Ringed Plovers. #cornwallbirding

Black/eared Kite - it was seen carrying a presumed food item before I arrived. It looks as though it had eaten whatever it was based on the bulging cropThe Kite performed well for a few minutes before moving further west and beyond the lay-by. Single BBS which preferred to hang out with the Ringed Plover on site. 4 BBS hanging out together

Very grateful to @lobb66.bsky.social and @liamlangley1.bsky.social for sharing their patch with us for an enjoyable seawatching session from St Ives Head this morning. The rest of the day was a little more relaxed for us, with a walk at Zennor and lunch in The Tinners Arms. #UKBirding #CornwallBirds

From the SD card upload as normal & bounce the .wav files against any analyser you want. I use Chirpity and/or BirdNet analyser. I find Chirpity is quicker and more ‘user friendly’. BirdNet is a little more ‘indepth’ but possibly more accurate but I haven’t done any proper analysis comparisons.

@liamlangley1.bsky.social Martin - I’ve been using the SM Micro 2 for 3 months. Leaving it to record all day/night mostly. You can programme it to your own listening time & .wav file lengths. I set it to 30 mins & thus create 40+ .wav files in an ‘overnight’ session.

Decent morning around Clodgy. Firecrest early am. A Merlin dashed west along cliff line and a Dartford Warbler popped up and back down briefly in a gorse ‘island’ in the midst of the bracken. #cornwallbirding

Unfortunately no sign this am from dawn. Despite the presence of James the Zenmeister of Zennor. Maybe it will pop up next week for you, Niall.

My son James found this booted warbler in Zennor, Cornwall last thing today. Top find! #cornwallbirding

So 3 days after finding a Pec Sand at Staines, I’m in Portugal on a non-birding trip and I find another during a walk to ‘just check this outlet’ … bins only - no camera with me so shocking iPhone video and photos only. #aves #portugal

@lobb66.bsky.socialSep 9, 2026, 7:16 PM

Gah - I got carried away with the Med Fly 🙄

@lobb66.bsky.socialSep 9, 2026, 7:09 PM

They’re full fat ticks because of recent-ish splits?

@lobb66.bsky.socialSep 7, 2026, 7:39 PM

Must have just missed you, Steve.

Decent couple of day’s #patchbirding - Lesser WT, Redstart, 2 Spot Fly, 2 Whinchat, several Yellow Wags & Tree Pipits at Pewley. Y’day an unexpected Pec Sand popped up for me at Staines. Today finally went for the Shrike with James M - with a bonus adult Ferruginous Duck #ukbirding #ukrarebirds

Pectoral Sandpiper - flew in from the ‘west’ pitching down in front of me. This may be the same one reported from Walton a few days ago? Anyway, it loves a bit of ‘sewage foam’. Staines truly at its best … Lovely bird. Shame about the toggers surrounding its tree but I guess it’s used to it by now. The tail really is super long We went to Dix looking for a female type and ended up with a superb adult male. There is a female Tufted there with very white undertail coverts….

Amazing what a bit of rain does - #patchbirding at Clodgy with @liamlangley1.bsky.social then on to Bussow, Nance, Zennor & Trewey. Superb Wryneck at Clodgy plus Pied & Spot Flys, Yellow Wags, Tree Pipit, Green Sandpiper etc. Also a ‘nocmigged’ Pied Fly yesterday evening #cornwallbirding
