In #SensorineuralHearingLoss, pure-tone average phenotyping identified more genome-wide significant loci and higher heritability than diagnostic code–based phenotyping.

ja.ma/3TzNFHQ

Two Manhattan plots. Top: ICD-based GWAS (n=61468) shows no peaks above the P=5x10^-8 significance line. Bottom: PTA-based GWAS (n=16057) shows significant peaks (rs10176445, rs4413512, rs199904900). X-axis: Chromosome 1-23, Y-axis: -log10(P value).

Among patients receiving radiotherapy for #HeadAndNeckCancer, higher skeletal muscle and lower intermuscular adiposity on pretreatment #ComputedTomography were associated with improved overall survival.

ja.ma/4rUgVFM

Kaplan-Meier survival curve shows overall survival (%) over 6 years for Obesity (dark gray), Overweight (orange), Healthy (blue), and Underweight (light green) groups. The Underweight group has significantly lower survival rates. Obesity, Overweight, and Healthy groups show higher, similar survival.

Persistent unilateral #Sinonasal obstruction with a maxillary sinus mass and palatal erosion may indicate sinonasal ameloblastoma, a rare locally infiltrative odontogenic epithelial tumor. ja.ma/4AIvPTo

A tracheostomy-specific #Tracheostomy risk-tier system for children separated prolonged hospitalization and in-hospital mortality better than All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Group severity classification. ja.ma/4rpdJle

For patients with #ObstructiveSleepApnea treated with hypoglossal nerve stimulation, low arousal threshold was associated with a shift from 3-month adherence to 6-month nonadherence. ja.ma/4roCjTf

A 34-year-old man with no significant medical history presented with progressive dysphonia, dysphagia, and an infiltrative laryngeal mass that remained nondiagnostic on multiple biopsies. What was the diagnosis? ja.ma/4dNuEbt

Among patients undergoing head and neck #FreeFlap reconstruction or #TransoralRoboticSurgery, adjunctive #Suzetrigine was associated with lower inpatient opioid use and similar postoperative pain scores. ja.ma/4Akh0Gs

Four plots show mean MME & MME/day for Suzetrigine (n=11/30) vs. Control (n=21/80) groups in TORS (plots A, B) & free flap (plots C, D) procedures. Suzetrigine consistently has lower mean MME & MME/day across all comparisons.

šŸ’¬ Editorial: A single narrative arc and the And–But–Therefore framework can help scientific findings clearly communicate the problem, the evidence gap, and the reason the audience should care.

For #HeadAndNeckSquamousCellCarcinoma surveillance, tissue-informed #ctDNA positivity was sometimes the first sign of recurrence and showed high positive and negative predictive value.

ja.ma/4igsx38

A three-part graph. A) Swimmer plot of patient surveillance shows ctDNA test results (negative: blue squares; positive: red circles) & recurrence (red X) over time. B) Patient 1's ctDNA rises from negative to >2 MTM/mL over 16 months, with PET/CT/Biopsy. C) Patient 2's ctDNA fluctuates around 1.5 MTM/mL over 13 months, with PET/CT.

šŸ“£ Special Communication: In #PrimaryHyperparathyroidism, imaging should be reserved for after biochemical diagnosis, and #Ultrasonography is the preferred first study because it involves no ionizing radiation.

ja.ma/4yt6ACZ

Table comparing patient-based examination sensitivity (%) and total effective dose equivalent (TEDE, mSv) across imaging modalities. Ultrasonography, MRI, and 4DMRI show 0 mSv. 8F-fluorocholine PET/CT has highest sensitivity (92-99%). 4DCT has highest dose (9.3-20.2 mSv).

In #PapillaryThyroidCarcinoma, #TERT promoter variants increased with age across 3 cohorts, indicating that molecular status may explain much of the worse prognosis associated with older age.

ja.ma/4x7bunN

Three bar charts display TERT variations (%) by age group across MDACC/VUMC/UW, TCGA, and GENIE studies. All charts show an increasing trend of TERT variations with age, particularly from 45-55 years onward, peaking in the ≄65 age group. Associated data tables provide TERT status counts.
