When we talk about data centre expansion representing an 'irrational allocation of resources' (@iliasalami.bsky.social), this is what we are talking about.
When there are severe deficits in social infrastructure, construction capacity should not be funnelled into speculative AI.

Under Sarkozy, Hollande, and Macron, France became a tax haven, multiplying fiscal schemes for large firms and wealthy households. Public budgets now lack billions. Now financial markets put more pressure. Meanwhile, high school students protest because they don't have enough teachers - or desks.
France is on the edge of fascism. The crackdown on high school students protesting for better conditions is savage. A student lost an eye due to a rubber-bullet shot. The former Minister of the Interior wants to declare illegal the first left wing party. www.lanouvellerepublique.fr/tours/malheu...

I've got a new piece on imperial state capitalism and frontier tech! A prelude to the full lecture coming out soon in the pages of Antipode. @campolis.bsky.social
New piece! Ilias Alami unpacks the drive toward state ownership in critical sectors today and details its relationship to the reconfiguration of empire. Check it out! @iliasalami.bsky.social @ieres-gwu.bsky.social
