Protected bike lanes make everyone safer. This corridor only cost $500,000 and it was paid for with Measure M return money. "No fatal injuries have occurred since the improvements were completed." Seems like a worthwhile investment to me
New capital is down, state of good repair is up.
Metrolink is getting rid of merit raises and keeping all expense growth at 3%. Travel and training cut by 33%. They have also ditched the consultants and are doing all scheduling in-house.
Budget assumes gas prices will stay high and keep juicing ridership. Also uses a one-time $10.8 State Rail Assistance fund that will not be there next year - meaning budget will likely be worse next year.
Cuts target "low-performing trains" and trains that overlap with Surfliner service. Staff explaining origin of budget deficit: bad ridership forecast created $15M deficit in fare revenue + reductions in support from member agencies. Costs increase every year, driven in particular by contracts.
With general public comment over, now on the budget item. You can view the slides here: granicus-aasmp-peak-files.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/atta...
4th commenter is a Fontana resident who uses Metrolink to get to jobs in Orange County, LA, and Burbank and also to get to Dodgers games. Says train schedules are not convenient to come back from Dodgers games, wants a special Dodgers train. Has brought this up several times previously.
Third commenter bringing up lack of clarity around free transfers to Metro - how long free transfer lasts, how this works with fare gates, and lack of Metrolink pass QR code scanners at stations (we agree!). Also closes with "I love Metrolink".
Second commenter is complaining about the Highland City Hall not being open for public comment despite being listed on the agenda, in possible violation of the Brown Act.
First commenter is a 70-year-old car-free San Bernardino resident who is complaining about Oceanside closures, both temporary and permanent, and lack of bus replacement. Closes with "I love Metrolink"
Reporting live from Metrolink board meeting, their first completely remote meeting in a while.
None whatsoever. We were there twice today. The project is an albatross and is going to become a distressed asset that cannot be used. So sad.
So cool landed in Anchorage, opened @transit.app and guess what I saw?

The third leg was all about the generosity of the folks at Sirens Java & Tea in #SanPedro and the incredible transit mall in Downtown Long Beach.
Our second leg took us to our @actlosangeles.bsky.social Transit Justice meeting at the @labwc.bsky.social for lunch and conversation and then we headed to the noisy J Line Station via the @metrolosangeles.bsky.social K and C Lines!
Our first leg included @metrolinksocal.bsky.social to Claremont to meet up with #CleanAirDay folks and @foothilltransit.bsky.social. We touched San Bernardino County in Montclair!
Ride free on @metrolosangeles.bsky.social for #CleanAirDay and follow along as we ride transit for 18 hours with @mobilityforwho.bsky.social
