This year's #WeekWithoutDriving has wrapped up which, as a non-driver, you might think is just any other week for me. It sort of is, but it's a good time to reflect on what that means. Even though nationally non-driving is apparently considered "DEI"/woke/whatever vocabulary the regime has latched

You all SHOWED UP for our happy hour on Wednesday! Thank you for joining us to to talk all things transit, accessibility, density, and advocacy.

Extra special thanks to @transpochoices.bsky.social & Nondrivers Alliance for joining us in celebration and appreciation of #WeekWithoutDriving.

Almost ended the #WeekWithoutDriving splattered by a driver cruising through a right turn on red.

At least it was in front of a hospital.

Was #WeekWithoutDriving a regular week for me? As a non-driver, yes, it was. But understanding #WWD as #choices was a great reflection. Thanks to @transitmatterschtn.bsky.social for involving me in this amazing initiative!

For Week Without Driving (one day late!) we're spotlighting Seattleites who get around without a car.

Tyler moved to Seattle four years ago for work and has been car-free ever since.

Vote YES on the Seattle Transit Measure (Prop 1) for more bus service! #WeekWithoutDriving #HopOnBoardSeattle

As a fun little Day 8 epilogue to this, today the gates at Emerson Park aren’t working at all! And there’s no Metrolink security here. The St. Clair County sheriff who often patrols the platform came down and let us in🙃🫠 #WeekWithoutDriving #stl #StLouis

Didn't log #WeekWithoutDriving activities on the daily while I'm on vacation. I've been car & air passenger, rode bus & Montréal Metro, walked pedestrianized streets in Montréal. I get to see so much more at human speed! Public art, shops, people enjoying life. Zero parking hassle/cost. #multimodal

Why do something simple, when I can make it hard? For my #WeekWithoutDriving @trailnetstl.bsky.social bingo, I didn’t like how crossing out the square hid the task. So I made a little flip-book style one with pop-ups.

It’s not fully responsive yet (mea culpa), but here’s a draft.

Take action: share your story with #WeekWithoutDriving and contact your local officials. Name the one fix your route needs most, like a missing sidewalk, an unsheltered bus stop, or a crosswalk with no signal.

Week Without Driving is over. How was it for you? 🚶‍♀️🚌

For some, this was the first time really experiencing their own neighborhood without a car. What was your #WeekWithoutDriving like?

Call for reflections: "Week Without Driving — REFLECTION" invites people to share experiences and lessons learned, displayed over silhouettes of walkers, cyclists and a bus, with the #WeekWithoutDriving tag and Transit Columbus logo.

As #WeekWithoutDriving comes to a close, keep the momentum going by finding more opportunities to make public transit a part of your everyday life.

Every Metro ride is one more chance to leave the car behind and experience how easy it can be to let Metro do the driving instead.

Detroit City Council's Denzel McCampbell rode two buses in to work with us this morning as part of the national #WeekWithoutDriving.

Riders shared a number of things that need improvement - including timeliness, as evidenced by the fact that the Plymouth bus was a half-hour late. #DoubleDDOT

As #WeekWithoutDriving challenge comes to a close and 51 Weeks of Forced Driving begins, I wrote about why it's important to center the joys and benefis of non-automotive transport, too, while also working to denormalize the (totally unnecessary and avoidable)"challenges" of mass automobility.
