From NOAA/NCEI climate analysis, the first nine months of 2026 for Alaska overall have been the coolest since 2012, 0.4°F below the 20th century average. We'll take it. #akwx #Climate @climatologist49.bsky.social @themattphelps.bsky.social @leepetersen.bsky.social

Fun Alaska climate factoid: NOAA 1991-2020 normal daily average high temperature at Fairbanks Airport drops 26ºF (14ºC) during October, mostly due to the power of snow (and diminishing solar heating). #akwx #Climate @jenniferschell16.bsky.social @themattphelps.bsky.social @bikewritedave.bsky.social

Rain early Tuesday morning has pushed Fairbanks over four inches of rain for September, the first time that's happened in 101 years. This is the second wettest September in 122 years of climate observations in the Golden Heart City. #akwx #Climate @carrieinfbx.bsky.social @leahwrenn.bsky.social

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

Fairbanks is set for a taste of (early) October to start next week but pretty good wx model consensus on temperatures rebounding later next week. #akwx #weather @anisian.bsky.social @leahwrenn.bsky.social @carrieinfbx.bsky.social @themattphelps.bsky.social @jenniferschell16.bsky.social

That didn't take long: first 16 days of September and Fairbanks is already at the second highest precipitation total for the entire month. Hopefully the 1925 record is safe. #akwx #Autumn2026 @jenniferschell16.bsky.social @carrieinfbx.bsky.social @bikewritedave.bsky.social

Listing of the 12 Septembers at Fairbanks with more than 2.5 inches of rain for the entire month. Fairbanks 3.77 through the first 16 days of September 2026 is already second highest, but far behind the record of 5.61 inches in September 1925.

Fairbanks airport 3.00 inches (76 mm) of rain September 1-15 is an all time record, breaking the previous highest of 2.95 inches in 1925. More rain since midnight has pushed Fairbanks in fourth highest total precip for the entire month of September. #akwx #weather #climate
