“If she survives the dunking, she’s a witch;
If she drowns, well.
We mourn the mistake while admiring the process:
a neat solution that ensures a dead woman.”

Today's SFF story: Leygr by @prioryruins.bsky.social in @trollbreathmag.bsky.social

"To them, that place is sacred—do you know why? There is a story that, long ago, a village child nearly drowned there, but was saved by a stranger."

I said OHH MY GODDD out loud!

After waking up to the good news of the demise of one corrupt televangelist (may more follow him soon), a brief reminder that our first anthology, Trollbreath Magazine Volume One (2024-2025) is available for pre-order (print pre-orders via Barnes & Noble)

Baker was a rapist and spent his life committing fraud to line his own bank accounts with money from his devout followers. May he rot in the abyss of Shalesh the dark one with Falwell, who went to check out the digs before him.

We are performing website maintenance over the next few days and there may be some down time.

In the meantime: did you read the poems we unleashed on Free Fiction Friday this week? Amazing work by both poets.

Graphic for Trollbreath Magazine Free Fiction Friday for October 2nd, 2026. It shows two pictures. The top half is of an old gas station with orange gas pumps in front of the building. The bottom half is a watery bog with some dead branches sticking up out of the water and land with trees in the faded background. The top half has text that reads "Natty Bumppo Bums a Smoke Outside the Stewart's Shop, by Rick Hollon," and the bottom has text that reads "Swimming the Witch, by Jennifer Hudak."

We, the staff, spent a lovely day yesterday at the Common Ground Fair in Unity, Maine. Not your typical agricultural fair, this one focuses on sustainable living, community support, and social justice. A lovely, sunshine filled day despite the impending nor'easter.
