These are solid suggestions for hitting that October wall. #TeacherSky
As educators, we need ways to engage students and help them prepare for the real world. PBL and other innovative models can help students demonstrate what they've learned. As teachers, we must help them believe that their voice and learning matter.

It doesn’t get much better than notes like these. #TeacherSky
Students reflected on how they think they did on their first math test using @marcusluther.bsky.social's Sticky Thoughts poster. I asked students to think about what they felt most confident and least confident about going into the test. #TeacherSky

October is such a weird month as a teacher in that somehow things get better and more difficult at the exact same time in the classroom.
Yep! It got jammed when he tried to cram it in there. Took me some time to fish it out!
Today, that student brought in $15 worth of coins! He diligently fed the bank while I quizzed him on each coin’s value (I can’t believe kids don’t know this anymore!). When he opened the bank, he announced that he wanted me to use the money to buy donuts. The class cheered. He’s a hero! #TeacherSky
I’ve had this piggy bank in my classroom for years. It stays locked until $10 in coins are deposited. Last week, a student asked about it. I told him that whoever adds the coin that opens it, gets to choose how I spend the $10 for the class. #TeacherSky
This entire article by @youkiterada.bsky.social for @edutopia.org is important, in my opinion, because quite honestly: once you get to a certain point in your teaching, you rarely get support/development to push you further.
(But we have to keep going!)
"They are scary. We were afraid."
Still remember this post like yesterday from @mrneibauer.bsky.social when it first came out, and fortunately/unfortunately it still is very relevant in today's moment:

Me: Does anyone have any questions?
Mr. Neibauer, why do we have to read these textbook articles? Why can’t we keep reading and annotating short stories like an octopus?
Me: It’s complicated (but not really)…
The crow and the pitcher story was the theme of our family meeting this morning! Students brainstormed a list of “pebbles” that would help them grow. One group even suggested working together as a team of “crows” to help everyone reach their potentials! ❤️ #TeacherSky
This simple system works surprisingly well for my fifth graders. #TeacherSky
