There may be something newer available now, but a while ago I found this post helpful. We used that approach in this paper, all of the code is available in the OSF repo: doi.org/10.1037/per0... msilvestrin.me/posts/esem/

Send your best work to PCI Psychology (psych.peercommunityin.org) where it will receive high quality & open peer review free of commercial interference. We review a variety of article types from a wide range of psychological topics (psych.peercommunityin.org/help/help_ge...).

New diamond open access outlet for developmental psych. Free to publish, free to read, and led by a great team. One more step away from for-profit publishers.

I am pleased to announce the launch of our new diamond open access journal Psychology Across Development (accepting submissions starting today!). We are a lifespan developmental journal. (1/3)

Fantastic, Cam, great work!!

Can you share some of the tools that you find effective?

@syeducation.bsky.socialOct 6, 2026, 3:52 PM

Ira, all of this is fine, these are all reasonable positions, I don't know anything about this work. I made a narrow point about how you stated a malicious motive among the research team. I find that inappropriate absent any evidence, and unacceptable in the context of contradictory evidence.

@syeducation.bsky.socialOct 6, 2026, 3:06 PM

Totally inaccurate to state the intention is to "tear apart an old study." See this description from when the project was first announced. You can of course disagree with the plan, but let's at least be fair and respectful to what the authors are trying to do. rolfzwaan.substack.com/p/memory-mis...

The sheer number of participating labs also opens doors that would otherwise remain closed. Limiting ourselves to a single direct replication—however careful, however well powered—would be a colossal waste of resources. With this many contributors, we can do a lot more.

Although the direct replication is the centrepiece of the project—it is, after all, what we received funding for—it also becomes feasible to explore principled variations on the original paradigm. Different tasks, different stimuli, slightly different ways of probing the same underlying phenomenon. This is something I have discussed before with Elizabeth Loftus, and it is a conversation I expect we will continue within the project. Viewed this way, replication does not have to mean sameness. It can also mean structured curiosity.

New blog post: "Cluster analysis: A skeptic’s guide".

In which I ask a few questions that social scientists wishing to identify hidden classes in their data ought to address.

What clusters, exactly?
Does the pipeline work?
What does the solution look like?
When running follow-up analyses, how is the uncertainty in the cluster assignments taken into account?

This is a great overview of next steps for data/materials sharing after OSF.

I'm curious, is there any discussion of moving preprint overlays like @psyarxivbot.bsky.social (not sure of profile... @improvingpsych.org) or @socarxiv.bsky.social off of @cos.io infrastructure? What are the alternatives?

Is it fair to mispresent what I wrote? I didn't say that the crisis "was never about replication rates." That would be absurd and I stated that the narrative was greatly accelerated by OSC 2015. The point is that the narrative existed prior to any rep rates, so is not **wholly** dependent on them.

In an otherwise interesting and useful analysis, Devezer & Buzbas unfortunately conclude their article with:

(begin quote) Implications of our analysis extend to the broader narrative of replicability crisis. Declarations of crisis rest on the implicit inferential claim that observed replicability rates (such as the 36% reported in the Replicability Project: Psychology, Collaboration, 2015) are meaningfully lower than what a high-replicability literature would produce…. The crisis, if it exists, cannot be established by the methods used to declare it. (p. 28-29, italics in original). (end quote)

This is a historically inaccurate claim, and one that I would otherwise ignore if not for the fact that such claims seem to be gaining in prominence. It has been jarring to see people attempt to rewrite a history that I both lived and is very well-documented.

The declaration of a replication crisis, was not, in fact, based on the 2015 article. To be sure, publication of that article and the subsequent media coverage certainly increased attention to and use of the phrase (as Holzmeister et al. state), but by the time those results were known, “replication crisis” was already in common usage in psychology.

Resource 6: Katie Corker on how to link objects stored elsewhere (e.g., OSF Registry, PsyArXiv) to Zenodo via persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI). (see October 2026 talk, which should automatically load): zenodo.org/records/2307...

@syeducation.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 8:53 PM

Interesting use of version control in that repo. That is a nice way to have all the talks in one place but with separate DOIs. Any downside to doing that?

@syeducation.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 8:50 PM

Yes that's great, thanks! Will add your talk slides to my thread.

@syeducation.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 8:47 PM

Thanks, agreed! This got confusing because upthread Matti (I think) accidentally referred to preprints rather than preregistration. What say you about preregistration on Zenodo?

@syeducation.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 8:38 PM

Right, there is no "registry" on Zenodo that is searchable or has specific standards and policies. To the extent that this matters depends on your perspective on registration. @katiecorker.bsky.social knows more about this than me, so I will attempt to tag her in!

@matti.vuorre.comOct 1, 2026, 6:48 PMReposted by @syeducation.bsky.social

Good talk. There's a lot of (over)thinking of this at the moment. Zenodo just works. (Until it doesn't when we and our bots ruin that as well.) Collaborate on GitHub and refer to zenodo.

@syeducation.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 7:46 PM

Thanks, and very true. Many people value the "all in one place" criterion, and since that is not available they are weighing their options. I have been hearing a lot of interest in ResearchBox among those who value the "easy" criterion (e.g., they don't use GitHub)
