Join us for the “Publish, Review, Curate (PRC): Shaping the future of scholarly publishing” launch event, where Ludo Waltman @ludowaltman.bsky.social, Scientific Director, Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University, will give a keynote talk.
I first wrote about the need to recognize peer reviews as acts of scholarship back in 2006. It's a dream deferred, but not a dream denied. We're going to make this happen.
Also I'm being told that we've added funders to the (very new) event page. Hopefully they allay concerns, but do reach out if there are more questions.
Nothing nefarious here, please meet @kristenratan.bsky.social, community member with 20+ years in the space. She's running various ventures, but none of them are shell corps :) ICOR is incubating the event, but wants it to be community led as it matures.
How many other contributions have been needlessly delayed while we play this game? How much would science accelerate if we decided not to play any longer?

Any and all models of open peer review are welcome. I am super excited that people will be able to experiment with this feature, and so we want to talk to those who have it on their mind or have talked about it with their team.
Are you running a journal using OJS and are considering open peer review? OJS 3.6 will make that possible! with some colleagues we are looking for journals that want to talk to us about their process and what they might expect. See this call for participants: pkp.sfu.ca/2026/10/05/c...
Mark you calendars: #zurich Wednesday, October 21, 3.30pm, keynote presentation:

Undoubtedly people will dislike arXiv's rate limits, but the real question is what is the alternative? The $$$ cost and noise>>>signal that the influx of slop and low-quality meh papers creates mean doing nothing is not an option.

Gave a talk in my dept. on the OSF transition. I wrote up a rough script of the session, which could be of interest to others. I synthesize existing resources and provide my own perspectives. Comments and corrections welcome! zenodo.org/records/2306...
I appreciate that you summoned me here to raise this rather pedantic point 😆 I also appreciate the subtlety of your comment that all of this "depends on your perspective on registration." It certainly does, and there a fair bit of nuance in your call out!
I am starting to feel like its getting a little unwieldy with my table of contents at the top, but maybe I should just abandon it and let each version stand alone. My main use case is that I put the parent DOI in the slides, and I then don't have to update my "thank you" slide each time.
I would still prefer OSF or a relevant clinical trial registry for study registration. Study plans or protocols shared in other repositories are nice, but they are not "study registrations." Registrations need to be in a formal registry, following Box 2 here: osf.io/preprints/me...
My example was this dataset, which features a preprint on OSF as a "related work." The relational metadata is a major selling point for me of Zenodo. doi.org/10.5281/zeno...
I actually just gave a talk to a grad class this afternoon, highlighting using Zenodo to host your data/code/etc, and then explicitly link it to other open science outputs using metadata. See slides here (dated today): doi.org/10.5281/zeno...
