Swearing in isn’t some ceremony. You aren’t a member of Congress until it happens. He knows that. No phones, no staff, nothing. I had to escort her into the Capitol on Wed bc Capitol police must treat her as a public visitor until she’s sworn in. And solo visitors aren’t allowed during shutdown!

If Mike Johnson is refusing to call the House back into session during the shutdown, then we’ll do the work right here the Bronx. The New York Essential plan is being eliminated entirely next year due to the GOP healthcare cuts. People’s lives are at stake. And that’s why we’re fighting back.

@aoc.bsky.social

The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session. Want to know why? Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files and they don’t want it out. Call GOP and tell them to swear in @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social.

@aoc.bsky.social

We believe healthcare is a right for every American. But starting today, millions of people will be notified that they are being priced out of their insurance thanks to Republican policies. Enough is enough. The GOP may shut down the government, but we will stand tall for YOU.

@aoc.bsky.social

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down. All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown. So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance. Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn. We have been sent here to fight for people.

I have been taking surfing lessons. Still in the beginner kook trenches, but celebrating my last time on a foam board 😎 Graduating to a hard top next session. It’s fun to learn new things! Even if you look like a goober at the beginning. 🏄🏽‍♀️

Yeah! That is totally understandable and criticism is fair - I don’t fault anyone for engaging it and part of our job is receiving that. I just think at times it goes a bit beyond criticism precisely because the stakes are so high.

Disney/ABC have a responsibility to refuse to participate in corruption. Kimmel must be reinstated. If Disney/ABC agree to this extortion then perhaps creatives + workers should consider collective action to push back. Same w/buying park + cruise tickets if they bow. People have power. Ask Target

I’m sorry but I think folks can often be too harsh with Sarah. 95 Ds voted YES bc of leadership, why single her out so often? She got elected statewide in Delaware. Her path is challenging and this time is terrifying. I think the disagreements w/ her can be less personal. I care about her safety.

My record on Palestine speaks for itself. I’m proud of it. One of the strongest in Congress. I throw down for pro-Palestine candidates. Largely unrecognized work. That’s fine. Disagreements are fine, too. But if you want to toss all that for 1 half assed MTG stunt, be my guest. I know where I stand.

@aoc.bsky.social

People exploding this false messaging that I voted for a bill + funding that I quite literally voted NO on. The threat environment this morning is scary. Doesn’t help anyone. Drag me for the position if you disagree but don’t lie. It’s out of control. Saying I voted for this funding is false.
