A foot pier on the Columbia River extends from the right foreground to the middle distance, stabilized by orange columns with white cones on top. The pier is composed of aluminum slats and leads to a stairway up to a platform with the sculpture of a steamboat smokestack with ersatz red flames and smoke coming from it. To the left of the riverbank, which is shored up by boulders, bare Cottonwoods reach to the sky. In the distance, Mt. Hood can be seen with its winter coat under a blue sky with wispy clouds, and the sky is reflected in the not quite still waters of the river.
