The Avro Lancaster was in flying in formation with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. This flyby marks the final Toronto performance for the Snowbirds' iconic CT-114 Tutor jets before the team transitions to their new aircraft.

Caught this local aviator fueling up at the premium nectar station during a brief airspace clearance. Zero jet lag, 100% natural aerodynamics. ✈️🦋😏🤙🍁🪶

A Monarch butterfly perches vertically on a dense branch of yellow Canada goldenrod flowers, showing off its striking orange and black wings. It is completely ignoring the CIAS airshow happening overhead in the blue sky, firmly believing that its own personal aerodynamic maneuvers are far superior to any fighter jet.

Sorry to bother the Toronto skyline, but the Jack Aces just gave us the loudest, most majestic 3-car pileup in the sky. Pure horsepower over Lake Ontario! 🙌

Three historic World War II P-51 Mustang fighter planes bank hard across a bright blue sky, flying in a formation tighter than a Tim Hortons drive-thru lineup on a Monday morning. The lead plane sports a bright yellow nose, while the trailing aircraft showcase classic black-and-white invasion stripes on polished silver wings. It is pure aviation mastery, though arguably slightly less aggressive than a nesting Canada goose protecting its territory.

It is at this point after the CT-133 departs, and the little red jets that could arrived.

And we looped back to the start of this series. The Snowbirds last show in Toronto.

Thanks for the memories little reds, the airshow will not be same without these stalwarts.

From the piston age, we travel to the jet age.

This time with the CT-133 Silver Star, the Canadian variant of the T-33 Shooting Star. Or at least that's what I've been told since this one was painted in the Red, white and Yank colours for the show.

Also note the camera on the nose

If the Spitfire & the Hurricane were the stars of the Battle of Britain & the backbone of RAF & RAF fleets during WWII.

P-51 Mustang was USAF bubbletop darling that turned the tied of the air war in the Allies favor. While ubiquitous with the Yanks, few units in the RCAF flew them

Next up was an unsung hero of the second world war. The humble Beechcraft Expeditor.

Use for transport, training, navigation and what have you. 1,000s of them were built between mid 1930s and the 1970s. Many still fly today.

The RCAF had hundreds of them for many years.

After the commie propaganda, it was time for some Allied "re-training" on a North American Harvard II.

This ubiquitous WWII allied training aircraft was built in the tens of thousands of units & countless aircraft flew out of the Island airport during the war to train allied crews

Then out of the blue Maoist ideas took flight..

Well not really, but another commie product did take to the skies, the Chinese Nanchang CJ6, painted red with yellow stars to fit the theme.

A simple propeller training air craft from the 1950s, one of China's 1st domestic products.

Then came the RCMP with their new Black Hawk helicopter.

At this point I knew it was time to move closer to the main stage. Since the heli was dropping divers into the water and all I could see was the take off.

After the big ASW plane flew off came a series of smaller acrobatic aircraft. They're always a pleasure to watch.

Except from the spot I choose as their short turning radius kept them directly over the main stage and out of view.

There is always at least one heifer in the sky.

This time around it was CP-140 Aurora anti submarine patrol plane.

Lucky for all the secret submarines in Lake Ontario, she was not out fishing for any pigboats today, she was out to please the crowd.

But not all flights were beloved WW2 planes or products of the free market.

There was a pinko commie jet in the mix. Literally it was pink and built in communist Czechoslovakia, the L-29 Albatross.

Sadly due to delays, I arrived late for the start of the snow. But I did catch the tail end of the Heritage flight of Spitfire, Hurricane, a Snowbird Tutor jet & a CF-188 Hornet.

That Hornet must have been at the edge of falling out of the sky at those low speeds.

Snowbirds have been flying the Canadian designed & built Tutor jet for 55 years. Retired from active service in 2000, Tutors remained the last Canadian designed & built jet in RCAF inventory with Snowbirds.

Now the era of Canadian made air craft is at an end, an sad day.

A flight of generations.

The last Toronto hurrah for the little red jets. The snowbirds, a CT-133 Silver Star & Halifax bomber make one list formation flight at the CIAS.

With that ends 55 year tradition of Snowbirds Tutor jets being an annual part of Toronto's summer.
