I don't know about you but I think the ideal combo for a fabric is a nice rusty red and and light grey. That means this little fellow who joined me at the outdoor cafe at Standen House was dressed perfectly, I'd say, for

Rusty red shirt and off-grey skirt all set off by the most delicate light brown cardigan with fine details in the patterned "arms". I'm ready for my photoshoot now. Just let me freshen up at this water bowl that the National Trust servants have kindly left here for visitors of the avian and canine persuasion.

Also for #PalacesandGardens #PalaceRunway. Floor from the Ca' d'Oro (Palazzo Santa Sofia), a palace on the Grand Canal in Venice (2013). #Venice #Italy #GrandCanal #photography #travelphotography #EastCoastKin #ECK #WCK

This image features a detailed photograph of the ornate mosaic flooring in the open courtyard of Ca' d'Oro (the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti) located along the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy.

The stonework displays intricate Cosmatesque and Byzantine-style geometric patterns, meticulously inlaid using multicolored marble chips, porphyry, serpentine, and precious stones.

A geometrical design on a dress or skirt? Daring cutouts? Avant-garde lace? You decide.

Stone pattern in a plaza, Vigeland Sculpture Park. Oslo, Norway, August 2026

#ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #ClassicMono #PalacesAndGardens #PalaceRunway

This monochrome image shows a geometrical pattern in light and dark stone in a plaza of the Vigeland Sculpture park. The image is taken from a low angle close to the stone, so that we have a good look at its texture; the angle and low f-stop cause the pattern to apparently recede rapidly from our point of view. At the bottom center of the image three lines of dark stone diverge; two exit on the left and right edges of the frame about one third of the way from the bottom, while the third continues straight up the center of the image, where it terminates in an inverted triangle about one third of the way from the top. In the upper third of the image, part of a circular pattern with a dark, wide, circle as border and filled with symmetrically placed lines, triangles, and curves appears, completing the image.

For #PalacesandGardens #PalaceRunway. Window of the prison where Queen Marie Antoinette was held at the Conciergerie in Paris before her execution (2018). #photography #Paris #architecture #France #window #history #EastCoastKin #ECK #WCK

This photo displays an interior viewpoint of multi-pane window structures inside the Conciergerie, a historic former palace and French Revolutionary prison located in Paris.

Thick vertical iron security bars run closely behind the center window frames, serving as a prominent architectural reminder of the building's identity as a state prison.

The windows contain a combination of translucent glass panels mixed with colored green and pinkish panes, some of which appear significantly cracked, aged, or weathered.

Abstract photograph of a rain puddle reflecting colorful buildings. Ripples and concentric rings from falling raindrops distort the reflections into shimmering bands of pink, blue, turquoise, gold, and white against dark wet pavement, creating the appearance of textured silk fabric.

Not a palace and neither a dress for the runway. Just a texture that caught my eye. Is it a new fashion idea? Probably not!

#PalacesandGardens #PalaceRunway #ECK
#PhotographersOfBluesky #texture #Paris #SaintSulpice

Responding to Sabine's and Anna's challenge for "PalaceRunway" and for finding patterns and textures that resemble fabrics, I found the outer side of this giant clam shell from the Eglise Saint Sulpice in Paris. I liked the texture, the thin stripes and the folds which I could imagine on a dress.
Wikipedia knows: Inside the church to either side of the entrance are the two halves of an enormous shell (Tridacna gigas) given to King Francis I by the Venetian Republic. They function as holy water fonts and rest on rock-like bases sculpted by Jean-Baptiste Pigalle.

And something from the natural world for #PalacesAndGardens #PalaceRunway. This particular “palace” is a local Audubon site, and I think a gown made from this ethereal dew-dusted purple grass would be the talk of the Met gala! #photography #ECK
