The Syncrude guy is saying you can send your questions to them from a form. That sounds reassuring. He is saying they still don't know the actual compound. They identified the source coming from a tailings pond. #abpoli #oilsands

A good news update. I will be paid for my night off. I got paid to watch #AEWDynamite, at least the last half hour. They are saying it wasn't benzene despite an operator telling people it was. The Syncrude guy said he was wrong. So, I don't know. #abpoli #oilsands.

I haven't had many issues like this but I've been working at Suncor Baseplant on and off for over 10 years and in the industry for 20. This is the first time I've experienced what feels like blatant hiding of information. Syncrude does have a bad reputation safety wise. #abpoli #oilsands

People are very frustrated and this feels like they are hiding the amount we were exposed to. I've heard people talk about how operators lied about the occupational limits. I'm at First Aid to give in my statement despite my lack of symptoms but the room is filled to the brim. #abpoli #oilsands

There was one issue though. Syncrude says the readings are good now but the Aptim person says he doesn't know what the results were, which is understandable. A Syncrude rep, however, said the same thing, much to the skepticism of the crowd. They aren't releasing numbers. #abpoli #oilsands

One person talked about vomiting in the field and there seem to be sicknesses related to the exposure. On Wednesday, the night shift was fully called off. Today, we came into work and had a meeting about it. The guy with the Aptim company explained what he was told to the group. #abpoli #oilsands

At around 2:15 am, I go to the lunchroom, the 1055 building and I'm told about the leak. I'm sent to another lunch room, have my coffee break and then go to another building, the 1296 building where we wait for the rest of the shift. Thankfully, I feel better but others didn't. #abpoli #oilsands

I'm not sure where to put this or discuss this. So on Tuesday, there was a leak at Syncrude while they were draining a pipe. Benzene got into the sewer system and was smelled all around the Syncrude Mildred Lake site. At 1am, I was working in the yard and was having stomach issues. #abpoli #oilsands
