### What Is ARK?

ARK stands for **Advanced Resource and Knowledge System**.

“Advanced” represents the technologies and social design that allow the system to adapt over time. “Resource” refers to the essentials of everyday life, including housing, water, food, energy and healthcare. “Knowledge” includes education, professional expertise, practical skills and the information needed to operate society.

The name also carries the meaning of an “ark”—a vessel that protects life and preserves a path through times of crisis. ARK is not the name of a particular type of building.
