You cannot love someone into developing a conscience. You cannot be loyal enough to heal dishonesty. You cannot grow beautiful enough, patient enough, useful enough, forgiving enough to make another person choose to respect you.

Sad truth is sometimes it takes years to finally catch on. The one fact that they never actually loved you. They just loved how easy you made yourself to reach, loved the way you showed up for them, loved that you poured all your time into them, loved that you always let their apologies slide, loved how you made them feel, loved the attention you gave, and at the end of it all, they just loved that you loved them.

You don't just "get over" narcisstic abuse. You have to grieve the person they pretended to be, dismantle the reality they manufactured, and rebuild the parts of you they systematically destroyed.
