🔗 birdbrainer.app

A slim, long-tailed songbird standing on wet muddy rocks at the water's edge, facing left, with a soft blue- grey head and back, a thin pale eyebrow stripe, a fine dark pointed bill, a whitish throat and breast blending into a lemon-yellow wash on the belly and undertail, dark grey-brown wings with pale feather edges, a very long dark tail with white outer feathers, and slender pale legs, against a blurred grey-blue water background.

Text on card: Found across Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa, inhabiting fast-flowing streams, rivers, waterfalls, and millraces, and in winter commonly found at sewage works, reservoirs, and coastal marshes. Despite its name, the grey upperparts are less striking than the vivid yellow underparts and rump that flash in flight.
