#JobsDay 🧵: September's job numbers just dropped, and tells us a bad overall picture: our labor market is weaker than 4.2% unemployment suggests.

Our labor market is facing some extreme challenges, such as the fact that men continue to fall behind women in employment growth, as seen on the graph.

🚨🚨🚨 “Black women’s unemployment rate jumped dramatically from 5.6 percent in August to 6.8 percent in September, driven by more Black women joining the labor market but not being able to find work.”

September #JobsDay numbers show job growth has slowed with payrolls rising by only 29,000. Unemployment rose slightly to 4.2%, and payrolls were revised down by 60,000 for the months of July and August. (1/7)

For context, the hire rate is very low, like in 2011.

#JobsDay numbers came in well below expectations (+29k jobs). Revisions reversed the narrative of a strong end-of-summer hiring boom (-60k fewer than reported). Trump's economy fails to deliver jobs for Americans as job growth slows, unemployment increases (4.2%), and inflation outpaces wages
