This is a good start, but criminal liability for both the companies and their executives, without the current men’s rea necessitated by some relevant criminal statutes, is the only thing that will create proper incentives

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

This should be common sense *even if* AI were sentient. Like the example of the tiger in the article, if you trained your tigers to unlock their cages, I don't see how you'd avoid liability if they unlocked their cages and mauled people. And there's no evidence that any AI actually is sentient.
Billionaire families have spent $1.7 BILLION on the 2026 midterms so far — a 5,200% increase since the 2010 midterms. Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day. Big Money is the root of our dysfunction.
Ultimately, advancements in technology are not inherently bad. What is bad is allowing tech to advance without any protections for those who can be harmed. And IMO protections include laws AND a stronger social safety net.
