New anemones and feather-duster worms on a float. New blog post: wanderinweeta.blogspot.com/2026/10/wher... #VancouverIsland #Invertebrates #IntertidalInvertebrates #Wildlife #MarineWildlife #NaturePhotography

On a blue plastic float under a dock, anemones and feather-duster worms have established themselves. The anemones, Metridium sp., are short, white and cream, with white frilled tentacles. The worms, Vancouver Feather-duster polychaetes, Eudistylia vancouveri, live in long tubes, not seen from this angle; what we see are the deep red, pom-pom-like, tentacle heads at the mouth of each tube. The water beneath them is clear, green in the shadow, sky-blue in the light.
