Lots of clouded yellow butterflies flitting about here. There has clearly been an irruption north from Europe and I haven’t seen them around here before. Bright yellow little jewels and quite beautiful.

The Autumn asters from North America were teeming with the buttery visitors from the Med this afternoon, speed snacking in the many white and purple flowers.

A cheery sight.

Even the strong flyers and lovely migrant #CloudedYellow #butterflies are showing some wear and tear now.
Which is really not surprising as some of these stunners have been on wing for a very long time.
From the Cliff Top Path above the #undercliffpath just east of #ovingdean today ..

Hope's Nose, S Devon. 07.35-09.40. 15 #CloudedYellow butterflies were a site best for me this morning. 2 calling, flyover Yellow Wagtails, 5 Willow Warblers, 2 Wheatears, 2 Painted Ladies, and a Hummingbird hawk-moth were the best of the rest. #UKBirding #DevonBirds #Birds
