Hope's Nose, S Devon this AM. I did not expect to find my first site Cetti's Warbler at the bottom of the first slope! Perhaps the first record here for several decades? 🤔 Mobile and vocal - it showed briefly on half a dozen occasions. #UKBirding #DevonBirds @backwardbirder.bsky.social #birds

Putting my old notebooks onto #birdtrack.
Glory day of 10 species of Gull in one cold February morning in 2002 on the Plym estuary.
Ross’s and Bonapartes with an Iceland the day before.
Absolute belter of a day that.

The stubble fields & hedgerows at the RSPB reserve at Labrador Bay offered us a ratio of 3:1 for Cirl Buntings & Vestals ~ over 30 of the former, often showing really well, and a minimum 11 of the latter. Great seeing these autumn flocks of Cirls 👌

Amazing to see the worm this barwit got actually inside it's bill. !!. Also to see how the barwits bill curves upward. Spot redshank looks a bit gangly out of mud & water I don't normally see all its leg length. 22 cattle egret,1 greenshank & 4 pintail also seen at Otter NR. #UKBirding #Devonbirds.

Popped over seaton wetlands this morning to see if wryneck was still about but no sign. No osprey= no osprey hunters so could get into tower hide 😲 for a change but was quiet from there, island hide was great for reflections & had nice close up of these 2 Curlew sandpipers. #UKBirding #Devonbirds.

Today's migrant #SpottedFlycatcher in the 🌞 at S Devon's, #HopesNose. It was mobile and elusive early on, before giving itself up late morning. A surprisingly scarce species for the site, with just a handful of records in recent years. #UKBirding #DevonBirds

@shiphaybirder.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 1:32 PM
