It's #FridaySmooch time! @sadirastone.bsky.social chose COLOR this week, and I thought it would be fun to share a snippet from my upcoming book, releasing Dec '26!!!

Have a snippet to share? Put it in the comments, or make your own post :)

Image is a book snippet. The background is a photo of a snowfield with a closeup of a purple and yellow crocus. At the top in a black scripty font reads #FridaySmooch. The snippet is in a bold black serif font and reads: Spring was almost here—at least according to the calendar—and my fingers itched to dive into damp earth, to connect with Eight-Fold as we wandered the gardens together, marveling at new green growth and the pops of COLOR as wildflowers erupted across the fields. That dream was a month away, but the sharp tang of loamy earth crept up through today’s chill. ©2026 Season of the Witch: Almost Like Magic (book 4)

Day 3: Book Snippets

Two book snippets today. Both first lines of Mapmaker--Book 1 and The Legend of Damndrake (not the prologue).

Book Snippet for The Legend of Damndrake with store icons and a picture of the book in the background. "Like begging dogs, a drift of humans gathered on the hot roadside, waiting to petition the castle's steward. Where any moment, he’d emerge from the servant’s door to announce the day’s labor needs.

Blaze and I stood a short distance away. Two dragons in human-form; we shouldn’t have been there, but if I wanted a job—this was my chance.

The humans shot sidelong glances, probably already guessing what we were, but they left us undisturbed. To distract myself from the petitioners’ furtive glimpses, I concentrated on the cowbirds harrying a nearby lemon tree with their enthusiastic insect foraging."Book Snippet for Mapmaker--Book 1 with store icons and a picture of the book in the background. "Like the sputtering breath of the gods, strong winds battered Aleeya, catching at her bound wings and threatening to send her into the sea.

An ill omen, the windstorm pummeled the docks of the City of Ka’ai’s First Fjord. The strong gusts forced wingmen out of the sky, though it didn’t lessen the activity on the piers and boardwalk servicing the unending ships that reached the western shores of Helacon. The white gulls’ raucous calling competed with shouted orders. And the strong briny scent of the sea reminded Aleeya she was far from the stately halls of the senate or the quiet library of the temple."

It's a more somber #fridaysmooch this week, and @sadirastone.bsky.social picked the perfect word. If you have a snippet to share, please do!

This is how you very politely say 'maybe later' to a minor Celtic smithing god...

Image is a book snippet. The background is a sunset (maybe sunrise?) showing only the sky, a rich, soft blue most of the way up, and a pale salmony orange at the bottom. At the top in black reads #FridaySmooch. The snippet is in a bold black serif font and reads: “I have a couple classic beauties in the garage that I tinker with, just for myself. Ye wouldn't want to go for a ride, would you?” Goibhniu sounded wistful. And I realized that's what I’d noticed earlier: loneliness. “It would be an HONOR, but I think my companions are in a hurry. May I request a rain check?” If I survive the next few days. ©2021 Bad Company: Almost Like Magic (book 1)

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 5: Saturday Snippet.

How about snippets from two books? The first is from Book 2 in my Mapmaker Trilogy and the second is from The Legend of Damndrake, the first book in my Draghi Chronicles series.
