A painting in an elaborate frame depicting a bust-length Madonna nursing the Christ Child, who turns his face over his left shoulder so that the viewer has a 3/4 view of his face. The protagonists are in an interior, before a dark green backdrop and a fringed red canopy or slight overhang. In the upper right of the painting is a window or wall opening through which the viewer sees some landscape, a building in the distance, and a whitish sky.
