Woe Unto You Who Desire the Day of the Lord A September 1, 2026 article from The New Republic is titled “JD Vance Says He’s OK With Bringing About the End Times.” The article reports that during his interview with Christian evangelist Bryce Crawford, Vice President JD Vance said he does not know whether we are living in the end times, that he would not be shocked if the Antichrist were already walking among us, and later said that he is trying to do what he believes is God’s work and “if that leads to the end times, OK.” But Scripture gives a sobering warning about desiring the Day of the Lord. “Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light” (Amos 5:18 KJV). The Day of the Lord is not something to casually celebrate, wish for, or speak about bringing about. It is a day of divine judgment.
