Living with a permanent ileostomy for 15 years after UC and multiple abdominal surgeries has brought ups and downs. Scar tissue and adhesions have caused recurring mechanical blockages, and now food needs to be puréed. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?

Hairy around the stoma? Shaving can improve pouch adhesion, but take care near the stoma. An empty toilet-paper roll can protect it while shaving. Clean the skin well and remove all residue before applying the pouch.
