Goodnight Bluesky Folks!

On Monday, I spotted three Garden Dahlias and took a picture of them with my Canon EOS R50.

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #mobilephotography

The photograph features three fully bloomed, vibrant yellow dahlia flowers set against a soft-focus background of dark green garden foliage.
Blooms: Each flower head displays layers of tightly packed yellow petals surrounding a warm amber-orange center. The blooms are arranged at different heights—one on the left, a slightly larger one in the center foreground, and a third standing higher on the right.
Bud: A small, unopened green flower bud rests near the bottom-left corner on a thin stem.
Lighting & Background: Dappled natural sunlight illuminates the textured petals, contrasting brightly against the dark, shadowy leaves in the background.

A parts list for the plant mitochondrion: AtMitoCarta catalogs 1,609 mitochondrial proteins of Arabidopsis, 236 of them newly defined and 147 of unknown function, and finds that 15% of mitochondrial protein families are specific to plants.

My Philodendron ‘Birkin’ is actually loving life right now which always surprises me because my thumb usually goes from green to black when I come inside. What a lovely range of colors from stark white to all kind of stripes.

Good Afternoon BlueSky Folks!

My Second Capture of the Day Features a Beautiful peach-pink Rose Flower that I saw this morning it was Captured on my iPhone 17 Pro!

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #mobilephotography

large, fully bloomed peach-pink rose with tightly layered, cupped petals dominates the center of the photo.
Main Bloom: The central rose features soft apricot-to-pink petals that curve inward at the center and open into broader, smooth outer petals.
Adjacent Growth: To the lower left, a small unopened rosebud with a hint of pink and yellow stems off a reddish stalk. Directly beneath the main bloom hangs a spent, wilting yellow rose with brown, decaying petals.
Foliage & Fence: A lush green leaf extends from the rose stem on the right. The rose is framed by rustic, weathered wooden fence pickets.
Background: Behind the fence, delicate white flowers with bright yellow centers (resembling Japanese anemones) bloom among dark green leaves and tangled garden branches.

Good Morning Bluesky Folks!

Another late start today, but here’s a picture of a garden dahlia I captured last Monday. It was taken with my Canon EOS R50.

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #CanonR50

A single-flowered dahlia with bright yellow petals blooms against a dark, moody background.
Petals: Golden-yellow petals feature subtle orange-red flushes near their bases, radiating outward from the flower's center.
Center: A dark burgundy to chocolate-brown central disk creates a bold contrast against the bright petals.
Stem & Foliage: The flower rests on a slender, dark reddish-brown stem with soft-focus, muted foliage blurring into the background on the lower right.
Lighting: Soft directional light highlights the petal texture while deep shadows obscure the backdrop, giving the photograph a moody aesthetic.

Good Afternoon Bluesky Folks

On my walk to work yesterday, I managed to capture this beautiful hollyhock flower on my iPhone 17 Pro!

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #CanonR50

A close-up photograph features a large, fully bloomed hollyhock flower with vibrant, deep magenta-purple petals. The flower features a bright yellowish-green center that transitions into the dark petals, surrounding a textured, cream-colored central column.
Rough-textured green leaves, unopened pointed buds, and rounded seed pods cluster along the stem around the main blossom. The plant rests against a wooden fence post, with a gray brick paver walkway visible in the background.

Good Morning BlueSky Folks!

My first capture of the day for this Monday features a beautiful cluster of geranium flowers I photographed during the golden hour. It was taken with my Canon EOS R50.

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #CanonR50

A close-up photo shows a cluster of pale pink geranium flowers illuminated against a dark background. The blossoms feature five smooth petals with white centers and tiny reddish stamens. Natural sunlight hits the flowers directly, casting gentle shadows across some petals while highlighting their delicate veining. Deep shadows envelope the surrounding foliage and soil, creating a striking contrast that emphasizes the central bloom.

This Aeonium had self-seeded into one of our other succulent plants so we dug it up this week. I thought it was an Aeonium spathulatum, but now I'm wondering if it's a hybrid with another species. #aeonium #succulents #plantsky #gardenssky
