#GenHour Feel free to ping me if you have any questions (I have it as part of a US All-Access sub). I set up alerts for my #OnePlaceStudy & some hard-to-find people of interest. I am enjoying the new clipping feature which allows you to join two parts of an article that aren't close by on a page.

A #HouseHistory is the last newly-registered #OnePlaceStudy we feature today: Durfee House, Churchover One-Place Study in Nova Scotia. Anne Wendel spent many happy childhood summers here but it was demolished around 1999; now Anne is recreating the house and compiling its history. #OnePlaceWednesday

To the left of the main house is an outbuilding, outside the open door of which stands a man and a woman. There are a couple of trees and shrubs, some stone walls, and the sloping ground below the buildings looks to be covered tall grass and other vegetation.

This month, Heather Etteridge has concluded the story of Homelea Farm in her #OnePlaceStudy of Great Ellingham, in The Owners & Occupiers of Homelea Farm, Part III and Part IV. In addition, there is also Basil Jude’s “Crime”: Selling Milk at Tuppence a Pint. Read all about it on #OnePlaceWednesday!

Members of the #Woodchurch Ancestry Group have been researching the history of their #Kent village and the people who lived there since 2001. Now they have registered Woodchurch One-Place Study with us! Find out more about the Group and their #OnePlaceStudy on #OnePlaceWednesday.

Woodchurch One-Place Study.
Image: An old, sepia-toned postcard photo of a scene in Woodchurch village. One the left we see the front of what looks to be a public house, a three-bay, two-storey house with a single-storey extension (or an adjoined residence); the walls appear to be lime-washed and there is a sign on the wall above the front door. In the yard outside stands a horse with a four-wheeled, covered cart. Further back, on either side of the road which heads directly away from us, are more houses, with their gardens enclosed by low, white picket fances.

The latest post on The Lost Hamlets of Rowley Regis #OnePlaceStudy website is The 1841 Census – Turner’s Hill: 3 Redferns but mainly Downings. It’s a detailed post, so grab a cuppa and have a #OnePlaceWednesday read!

Melanie Caldicott has registered Cotesbach One-Place Study with us! Research and family reconstruction based on parish and other local records for this #Leicestershire village is being shared on Melanie’s website for this #OnePlaceStudy. Check it out on #OnePlaceWednesday

Happy #OnePlaceWednesday! I have the day off, so as well as researching events for SOPS to attend, I’m indulging in some #OnePlaceStudy research, & eagerly anticipating a trip to my former study village of Dunster. We’ll be staying on West Street, where some of my ancestors lived

Great to see a new post added to the #OnePlaceStudy website for #Stretton in #Cheshire! Inspired by David Olusoga’s series ‘Finding Britain’s Slave Traders’ and the launch of the Register of British Slave Traders, Clare Olver has written about Stretton, Slavery & Social Networks.

It was a privilege this week to be invited to share some of the early history of the Irish in Batley & the parish of St Mary of the Angels amongst those for who it is most relevant. It was a lovely social occasion too.

Graveltown, Newberry One-Place Study has been registered with us by Lahnice Hollister. This #OnePlaceStudy focuses on a section of Newberry County, South Carolina that was informally called Graveltown, where many newly-freed Black men and women resided. #OnePlaceWednesday

#AncestryHour "Around 2,500 residents lost their homes as part of the flooding" according to Wikipedia's article.

Kind of big for a #OnePlaceStudy.

#AncestryHour All the towns that were drowned when the Quabbin Reservoir was created would make a dandy #OnePlaceStudy if it weren't so big. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quabbin...

The LiDAR also show the mess (damage) done by gravel extraction in the lower Colne Valley around Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy #MapMonday Good thing I’m not studying Wraysbury, most of the agricultural land has gone. One of the few areas left are Ankerwycke and Magna Carta Island.

#OnePlaceWednesday You could say that migration paths were the inspiration for my #OnePlaceStudy. A neighbor of one of my husband's family members (next door on the 1910 Valuation survey map) traveled on the same ticket number when they emigrated to the USA. That prompted me to look for others.
