Think this is 3rd instar of Southern Green Shieldbug, Nezara viridula, on the last of my climbing beans today.

I was flattered that this Sloe Bug chose my shirt today in preference to the plants in the Solanaceae bed in @cubotanicgarden.bsky.social.

Traveller’s-joy lived up to its name in Purfleet, Essex, delighting this traveller with three new shieldbugs! Dozens of Southern Green nymphs, six Vernal nymphs and, best of all, two adults and a nymph of Sciocoris sideritidis

A Flat-headed Leafhopper nymph (subfamily Ledrinae) spotted at Dairy Farm Nature Park, Singapore on 26 Oct 2025. The side view shows how flat it is; and not an easy shot to get.

A Rose #aphid nymph on our Dog Rose for #MacroMonday. There's quite a collection of them feeding on fresh shoots that are being put up now the heatwaves are over. #hemiptera #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates

A close up landscape photo of a cluster of aphids on a rose stem. The rose stem can't be seen because there are so many aphids! All the aphids are a bright green, nicely contrasted against a dark out of focus background. The frame is centred so the emphasis is on a younger nymph which is looking to the right in the frame, viewed side on and from slightly above. It has tiny black eyes, a rectangular body, with some nubs of wings that will mature as it grows. At the back of its body it has two horns that stick out backwards. In the mature aphids these are black.

A collection of little grabby beasts (AKA assassin bugs) from Costa Rica. These must be among the most feared predators in the world of small things...but they sure can be pretty!

#Hemiptera: #Reduviidae

The head has a black mask across the eyes.A rusty orange assassin bug with a spiny thorax and white spotted black bases of its wings, sits on a white background. Let's see if I can get this right: Dock Bug, Coreus marginatus, on a Gorse bush at RSPB The Lodge today. Quite common south of York. 🤔

Didn't expect to see Firebugs at RSPB The Lodge Bedfordshire today but found one using a Broom pod as a hammock before it climbed up a stem. It may be 'macropterous' ie able to fly which would explain how it got where it was, under Silver Birch saplings.

Setocoris sp. - Sundew Bug (I think)

These tiny plant bugs are often found in association with carnivorous sundews (Drosera sp.), where they steal the sundew’s food.

This bug was on a Stylidium, rather than a Drosera, which made it much easier to spot.

Can't match Vanna's huge cluster of Firebugs, Pyrrhocoris apterus, in Norwich but in a corner of New Square #Cambridge today they were getting close to a Lime tree from a clump of Hollyhocks!

A Three Spotted Nettle #bug for #macroMonday, a pretty small bug that's about 4mm long. It's in the process of plunging its mouthparts into a nettle, a rigid straw through which it can drink fluid from the plant. #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #gardenwildlife #Hemiptera

A landscape photo of a bug on a nettle flower head. The flower head stretches up the left hand side, and the bottom, of the frame. And is a complicated shape made up of light green stalk with very pale hairs, and very delicate, amost fluffy looking, white flowers. The bug is standing in the in the left hand corner that the flower head makes. It is light green, with dark brown patches and is facing out the frame and to the right. It has long antennae, and green alien like eyes in which the hexagona individual lenses can be seen. From below the eyes its beak, a long rigid straw, is protruding and pointing straight down, ready to be plunged into the plant to feed.
