A large, shiny, black beetle crawls across dead leaves on a sandy brown mud. The beetle has a long "horn" protruding from its thorax each side of it's head and a third shorter "horn" in the middle.

#photography #insects #beetles Asian golden tortoise beetle. Not the best picture - taken with my phone, not my camera. Very small - size of small fingernail. Doesn't stay still long, Likes to duck under the leaf asap. Unreal gold color flashing in the sunlight.

A pale beetle with a short, wide snout with two elbowed antennae coming off it, flailing on its back on a barely visible sheet of spider silk. A log fence rail is to the right.Another angle of the weevil. Note its large feet. It may be an Asiatic Oak Weevil which I also photographed in the vicinity.A further-out shot. Its feet are tangled in the silk. The web inhabitant clearly wasn't that hungry.
