#Genealogy No, I don't save files with the name of the person in them. I have pointers to which files belong to each person. What do you think computers are for?

Why are we constantly searching for things by person names, which we know are one of the most variable things about a person? 🤔

#Genealogy "Oh but the DGS-image number isn't a DOI, you should save the DOI" and then they give us some gobbledy-gook looking thing bristling with characters you can't put in a filename. Don't get me started on the ARK numbers either.

Would it kill them to give us a download file name of Transcript (DGS-image).pdf? Why do users have to rename everything as they go?

#Genealogy I really don't understand why developers do what they do. In Family Search Full Text search, you download a record and it gives you some generic filename, unless you hit the little info circle.

Then it gives you a filename DGS-image.jpg which is what I want!
