A space rock the size of a skyscraper just zipped past us at 84,523 km/h. To put that in perspective, 1998 FF14 was cruising at 40 times the distance to the Moon. It’s one of three hazardous visitors passing by our neighborhood today. Space is busy! ☄️

Asteroid 2019 SH7 is cruising past us today at 34,525 km/h. At its biggest, it’s about the length of a soccer field, yet it’s staying a safe 84 times the distance of the Moon. Space is quiet, but these cosmic travelers are definitely keeping things busy. ☄️

Paid guide: work through Atira's slit-loss correction, absorption depth and porosity error propagation. Article exercises clarify the assumptions linking surface minerals to the interior, and how to design follow-up observations.

How can photometry help recover Atira's spectrum? Explore slit-loss correction, CM-meteorite comparisons and continuum choices behind the inference of hydrated minerals. An absorption depth is not a water fraction.

Could Atira's rocks retain traces of past water? Corrected visible spectra resemble CM meteorites, suggesting hydrated minerals. The inference depends on slit-loss and continuum choices; it is not a detection of liquid water.
