A lovely #spatz lady stayed a moment today .. as did Wren and a flock of Goldfinches but they were on speed.

Lady #sparrow would have none of that speed stuff & took her time in the lovely September sunshine.

The Melancholy Thistle had its lovely Autumn hat on but probably gone by tomorrow as small flocks of Goldfinch were spotted zooming around.
Still a very good end & new life for this magnificent thistle that has given me such joy.

Red Admiral butterflies rested in the sun on their favourites .. the leathery Fig leaves.
Honeybees were having love-ins in the Meadow Cranesbill blooms while tiny hoverflies were feeding in re-flowering Hedge Bedstraw.
A small Field Grasshopper cast a mighty shadow.

tree young Blackbirds were noisily raiding the grapes.

A Great tit excavated the rotting grooves in the old fence and found good eating it seemed as it kept returning for more wood-boring tit-bits.
A Blue tit seemed vaguely interested.

rich Turkish coffee .. and carpet throwing for ages .. I was not wrapped for dinner nor did I lose my legs ๐Ÿ™„

In my neighbour's vine-clad old apple tree a gang of benign speckled 'builders' whistled while they worked through all things edible.

A magic gift of a day today on the allotment with our 8-legged friends throwing fine threads all over the plot on which tiny creatures were waylaid forever.

It somehow reminded me of the carpet sellers' shops of Istanbul, though apart from being plied with thick &

Afternoon at the #allotment #allotmentlife mainly mowing, strumming, battling brambles and picking pears. We finished the pergola last weekend ready for some dessert grape cuttings to provide summer shade and fruit. Leeks, cima di rapa radish and turnip doing well ๐Ÿ˜

Windows prepped for painting tomorrow.

Tommy's (Rio Grande, San Marzano and Amish Paste) cropped for passata making this afternoon when the rain comes.

The basket is 3/4 Rio Grande which was outdoor I stead of new spuds, 1 row of 12. Success ๐Ÿ˜‰

VegPlotter tip: As you add plants to your #vegetablegarden or #allotment plan, check out the Companion plants list in the right menu. It tells you what grows well with what you added. #urbanfarming #homesteading #growyourownfood #allotmentlife #vegetablegardening

Crown Prince is my fave of all squashes for both flavour and use, stores well over winter too.

Just asked Gemini about eating the seed and it appears to be one of the best ๐Ÿ‘Œ
Gonna give them ago I think.
