Golden-Crowned Kinglet (October 2026, Taylor Creek Park, Toronto, ON)

After a solid week of trying, I finally got some good pictures of the little Kinglets today! They are like tiny perpetual motion machines.

I finally got good pictures of the Golden-Crowned Kinglets!

Just look at these tiny kings!

This is the first time I've noticed the little orange patches on their crowns, alongside the yellow.

We spotted these two beauties on the Meseta Plateau south of Léon, Spain, while we were preparing for the total solar eclipse: a male Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator) and one of quite a few European Bee-eaters (Merops apiaster).
