The ParDafi are the dominant sentients on YelNi. (Anthropomorphic big cats)
They wear loose silk robes to cope with the heat, always in the colors of their Clan. The same goes for their glass jewelry.

#OctoberWorldbuilders The people in the Suzamna Empire embrace magic far more openly than Islana’s people do, because as their land has turned arid in the rain shadow of a new mountain, becoming a patron to the fae might be your only shot at food.

Several, in fact.
There are, of course, the Seven Cities of Ghan — Amun Rakash, Azyr Ashur, Enliri Suhm, the Hidden Oasis, Inu Hakka, Maradh Bascim, & Taru hune Natal — but there are also the nomadic Sal:a'hu-E:Ru'din. 🧵
1- #OctoberWorldbuilders- Amarlock is the Western Desert kingdom. The other kingdoms want nothing to do with them because their connection to death & wolves freak everyone else out.
There are multiple leaders in Aywu, who are guild chiefs. They also manage trading, which is very important for the Aywul and the whole Clay Nation, in fact trading is not only internal but also done with other nations.

The necari used to be divided into different factions across the desert. But after a devastating war, they've consolidated to the tribe of Merith, led by Queen Merith Brigid IV.
All their people now live at the capital, Vigaras, by the Alourus river.

Yes! Quite a lot actually. Soreia is a rather bustling, growing country but still overrun by bandits and general unfriendly creatures. Their leaders are King Everett and Queen Hortence Verdier, who rule the kingdom from its capital city of Glass Arm.

There's a popular drinking song about "the trolls who run Oasis City," but that's probably an insult to the government rather than the literal truth. Even though the city is cosmopolitan, dwarves suffer major racial oppression, relegated to unpleasant menial labor, for
Most of Seyzharel is a desert, both the plains and the mountains. The dragonfolk favor the cliffs (though they used to have cities on the plains), while the lowland people are nomadic because most water sources are seasonal.

Hello there, #OctoberWorldbuilders friends! Let's talk about the societies that live in our fictional desert settings today! What are the lives of these people like? Remember there's a day about survival coming up, so save any answers about clothing or water until then!
#OctoberWorldbuilders The hottest desert beneath the Arch is the Dead Heart, in the middle of Byrex's Land.
The land is rust-red.
The plants are widely-spaced and look utterly alien, like cycads and araucaria trying to evolve into cacti.
The vultures—if that's what they are—have teeth.
#OctoberWorldbuilders 1: The Great Northern Desert! Lacking the continents of most geologically active worlds, Tithrik is covered in shallow seas and coastal wetlands, though the upper latitudes of the northern hemisphere are higher in elevation. We start amidst the thin air of the northern steppes.

There are no hot deserts in the two northern continents (spirit shenanigans), but there is a cold desert like the Gobi Desert in the north of Lastak's home country. There's very little accessible water and a lot of permafrost, and few trees.

I'm going to be contrary and talk about the OTHER desert, Renkepi. It's high-altitude and highly geologically active, so lots of dazzling rainbow pools of toxic water and a boss volcano. Cold, bright, and very dry. So, beautiful, alien, and hostile
The Nascent Sands is the desert at the very center of the Empire, which separates Mount Askaroth from the rest of the "civilized world".
General vibes are: you don't want to be there. It's just cruel nothingness with no hope at the end.

1. Deserts
The MC of my first book, Cloudrend, hails from the desert island of Azrakia. Once a lush, thriving land, it began to decay when it's God-Dragon Azrak threw himself between the two warring peoples. Now lost in endless war, it's not a place to travel unprepared.

In Otherworld, there's the Barren Waste & the Suty Sands
...So the closest thing to desert is the drier scrub climate in the rain shadow in the western Days. Even they have moist, salt tolerant zones near the ocean, so the driest zones are semi-arid at most. Still, it's not anywhere someone's going to be lost and desperate for water. #OctoberWorldBuilders
