I tend to not describe my characters' physical appearances that much. Unless it's plot-related, of course. I don't know if that's something readers will react poorly to or not. Maybe y'all can read my books and tell me what you think. *smiles crookedly* #WritingQ #WritingCommunity #WriterSky

The scariest thing to happen to Bethany is seeing her family transformed into swans & finding herself trapped in another world
And all because the Fairy Queen & Prince chose her to be their new special "shared companion"

My MC, Bethany, starts out hiding the fact, or at least denying, that she's "abnormal" (autistic & bisexual)
Her Hollywood famous biological parents, in later years, try to hide that they were Nazi sympathizers

Bethany Ivanoff's favorite outfit is her sailor dress... that magically grows with her & changes from white, to red, to black, on her otherworldly journey
I don't write sex scenes. The main reason is I write for a middle-grade audience, but even if I didn't I just find them awkward as heck to write! Like, I feel second (or maybe it's third?) hand embarrassment for the characters when I try.
So I don't do it. The children appear off-screen!
I hate (HATE) when miscommunication is the one thing driving the plot/tension/character development. It just never works for me.
Luckily in horror it doesn't come up that often lmao
I haven't bothered to write any sex scenes yet. I just imply that people just had sex or whatever even in WIP 2 which is like Horny Queer People Simulator.
I'm mentally chewing on starting but I'm on the fence. Might do like one in WIP tie-in novella and see how I feel about it.
Something I never include is a serious sex scene.
Someone is going to be cheeky, or get surprised, or get tickled, or laugh, or fall over, or bump into something, or be awkward.
Sex doesn't have to be serious.

Though I have implied it to be the motivation for some of my villians, I refuse to actually depict sexual violence. 1) I’m not exactly comfortable depicting normal sex in my work (I just don’t think I’d write it well) but also 2) I think actually detailing those acts isn’t my place.

Augustina Wilma Lark, a religious Tradwife, internalized misogynist, reactionary, stochastic terrorist, & overbearing, toxic mother to a transmasculine witch who gets the upper hand 🧵1/?
What’s something not super serious that you don’t include in your stories? I write horror, but I refuse to kill the family pet as the “first” victim like in a lot of horror stories or movies #writingq #WritingCommunity
