A tall oak tree has so much lace lichen hanging from its branches that the tree is barely visible. Lace lichen is a combination of fungi and algae and is often mistaken for Spanish moss. It's very common along the California coast. King trail in the Irish Hills of San Luis Obispo.

A hiking trail surrounded by and covered with brown oak tree leaves is approaching a deeper section of the forest. There are trees on both sides of the trail, and the canopy becomes a lovely muted shade of sea foam and teal green, The trail disappears into the shadow of the trees and disappears.
