@tmshannonauthor.comFirst it was the manuscript assessment teaching me how to write efficiently, how to satisfy readers and not me the writer, and how to handle criticism
Now the beta readers are teaching me my strengths and where the narrative is weaker

@bookgranny.bsky.socialI’m 15 pages into a book, and I swear I have never seen so many speaker tags ! At least I hope I haven’t! Goodness! Hopefully I stop noticing them soon.
@tmshannonauthor.comGood old Original Trilogy Darth Vader (Annakin Skywalker was a crybaby traumatised by sand)
His big and imposing, has a distinctive sound, and comes with a cool soundtrack

@tmshannonauthor.comI like something imposing rather than the holier than thou, smarter than all wanker getting high on their own munificence
Think Darth Vader, the Terminator, the shark in Jaws, or the Xenomorph, difficult things to outwit

@tmshannonauthor.comCould be the sex scenes, could be the queer sex scenes in particular, could be the queer ending, could be the swearing (though the WIP is set in Sydney, Oz and I reckon I'd get more complaints if there was no swearing), or it could just be Jimmy
@tmshannonauthor.comOnly 16 hours late but here goes #LGBTQWriteAThon
This week I got the last of my beta feedback and dove into on my 3rd draft
Both betas said "take time to process," but I absorbed that shit by osmosis because I went in for constructive criticism and I got it
@tmshannonauthor.comThere's been therapy, there's been the safe space used in therapy, but sometimes it's sheer survival instinct - Cole fighting on despite falls into the pit of absolute despair
@tmshannonauthor.comAuthor Update 🖊️
I'm almost finished my October blog post, just have to copy/paste the last section and add in something for my short story
I'll be promoting tomorrow, but for now it's into the city for my meeting then more writing - chapter 5 improvements await...
@tmshannonauthor.comQuite simple #QueerPrompts, swearing, confronting trauma, and queer people.
I won't print out and frame the, "You need the fear of the Lord," posts, but I'll certainly wear them as a badge of honour.

@kimolisamings.bsky.socialReading a book is nice but...
Reading a book in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep is even better, it's therapeutic

@tmshannonauthor.comCole has a safe space he created in his (off-screen) therapy
He will use it to clear his head for pivotal moment, but at the beginning he abuses it to numb out his past
Can't say more, gotta keep it for the reader
@tmshannonauthor.comGotta love when the darling partner shows how much she supports my writing
Plus say hi to my writing buddies St Anthony of Padua (my consecrated name) and mini Darth Vader - just need to find where my FunkoPop Lord Humungus is and the trio is complete
