The monsters I write represent excess. Taking more than they need, demanding more than they are owed, etc. Selfishness and all the darker parts of the soul. Or at least, that's what I try to convey. I'm getting better at that as I write.
Hi. I'm Anna. I write across the SFFH spectrum, but I most often alight on eco fiction and cosmic horror #TBBChat
Themselves? I prefer not to give symbolic meaning to my monsters, human or nonhuman. It gets in the way of my writing, makes me anxious.
Hello, it's Vincent, trans man author of mostly trans man led fiction. I write a lot of horror but sometimes dabble in other genres. Currently procrastinating on an omegaverse murder mystery short story I plan to release Halloween week. Wish me luck
Let's get into the Halloween season with some questions about monsters and humans.
TBB Chat Q1: What do your monsters represent?
Hi #TBBChat!
I'm Sherrie. I write to keep the voices calm and quiet. When there is nothing being written, things get dark and scary.

I missed #TBBChat last week bc I thought it was a Sunday thing.
smh
I need a calendar and an assistant to keep my calendar
Gotta be Lord Gro from E.R. Eddison's "The Worm Ouroboros." Somehow both a languid philosopher and an agent of chaos.
Good old Original Trilogy Darth Vader (Annakin Skywalker was a crybaby traumatised by sand)
His big and imposing, has a distinctive sound, and comes with a cool soundtrack

I like something imposing rather than the holier than thou, smarter than all wanker getting high on their own munificence
Think Darth Vader, the Terminator, the shark in Jaws, or the Xenomorph, difficult things to outwit

#TBBChat you can follow Fire and Feathers, which is about a villainous antihero morally gray MC!
Woohoo! Thanks for the awesome #TBBChat, @amaralynn.bsky.social!
While I am not morally gray, I talk about some rather villainous and morally gray people in my upcoming collection, Fistfuls of Poetry.
Three zines make up this series. Follow now for updates!

It's out now so I can recommend a fellow TBB member's book: Melt: Refrain by subvertebra. Hector is my favorite, but you're in for a real treat as you delve into the twisted desires of all the ppl(vampires) he surrounds himself with. It's hot, nasty, +a great time
The most interesting thing a villain can do is have a relatable goal they're going about the wrong way. I love writing villains who are very human. They're rarely redeemed, but there's something about them that you can connect to, whether you like it or not. It hurts when they let you down
magicia riot
well bloom is only like this in the first book BUT shes still iconic
god i havent read a lot of other things lately and my mind is drawing a blank for now LOL
And now it is time for me to forget anything I've ever read, #TBBChat
Oh wait! I know! There's soooo many morally gray and villainous characters in both Blackcloak and Gildenhammer by @wjameschan.bsky.social!!!
Such twisty, twisty books. And very surreal.
