Outdoor cats, 0/10. #GardenDogs #WeAreAllZoey nearly had this garden interloper by tail yesterday (it came to kill birds). This is a city—dogs, cars, e-scooters & bikes, coyotes, rodents filled w/poison, angry raccoons. Why risk your cat coming home hurt or never?

Good morning. Some of the biennial Standing Cypress that I planted in spring decided to bloom now instead of waiting until next year. I planted them for the hummingbirds to hopefully replace the cypress vines. #nativeplants #gardening 🌱 #hummingbirds

A short spike of red Standing Cypress flowers. It has skinny needle-like foliage with small red trumpet flowers at the top which open into five-pointed stars. Ipomopsis rubra.A female hummingbird hovering over the Cypress Vines that are growing on top of my doghouse. I am still seeing female birds but the males have already left for Mexico. The cypress vines are nonnative and somewhat invasive but I hate to remove wildlife plants without something to replace them. Oklahoma Northern Crosstimbers ecoregion 29a.

New for 2027- Marsh Blazing Star
aka Gayfeather, it’s a perennial wildflower native to the Great Lakes and east of the Mississippi River. It tolerates a range of moisture levels from wet to dry and is a pollinator magnet.

So my Hippistreum had two flowers about three four days ago and today has four with more coming. I cannot recommend these plants enough. They grow with no direct light and so fast! Just gorgeous flowers. And this was a cheap one! #Gardening
