Ooh does anyone have the prompt list for #SciArtSeptember?

@maijakarala.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 8:44 AM

#SciArtSeptember 8: Ruby

Cuckoo wasps are like tiny living jewels. As nest parasites of other wasps, they are high in the food chain and sensitive to environmental change. A study from a few years ago showed they have declined sharply in Finland.

Illustration of a cuckoo or enerald wasp, not depicting a specific one of the 3000 or so species. The tiny wasp has a bright emerald-bluish head and thorax, and a ruby-coloured abdomen.

#SciArtSeptember Day 16 Scallop is, well, a scallop. I did not do the eyeballs because some of the images that came up when I searched for references looked very AI and not being able to immediate find a non-AI one cheesed me off 🥲

For #sciartseptember I present an artsy illustration of one of my study species- the orangethroat darter(Etheostoma spectabile)! This fish (and the whole Ceasia clade) played a major role in my PhD research on sensory systems and species discrimination. #sciart #scicomm #fish #ichthyology

An illustration of a male orangethroat darter(Etheostoma spectabile). This art piece uses squiggles and blocks of color and line work to emphasize the orangethroat darter’s colorful patterning.

Day 16. Today’s #SciArtSeptember shape prompt, scallop, made me think of scalloped leaves. Feeling autumn in the air, I decided to make four prints about leaf colour chemistry using bur oak leaves. 🧪

Every autumn we marvel at the beautiful change in the colour of leaves of our deciduous trees. 🧵

My 11” x 14” print with four bur oak leaves in green, yellow, orange and red overprinted with linocut molecules as described in slate grey. This one has leaf gel prints, is signed Ele Willoughby and dated 2026.
