Day 2: Curse

Ye think ye want to be immortal, but ye don’t. I know because I once wished the same, and now I wish the gods would let this mantle pass from me. When the gods told me they were leaving, I begged them to let me live until they returned. In their “mercy” they obliged.

I thought I could fix the world in their absence, that they would return to a kind and more just world. What a fool I was. I’ve traveled to every known land trying to heal what is broken. Do ye know what I have found? Disappointment and failure. Every time I try to help you mortals, ye let me down. You squabble, you fight, you murder and steal. If you just worked together instead of giving in to yer selfish, base desires, this world might finally recover.
I see now that it’s impossible. The blessing I sought is now my curse, to walk the world and watch people suffer until the god’s return.
