#Ootd is this 1948 dress. I may look like Dior, but this was made by the French Women's Tailoring Department, an atelier in Stockholm. They bought the patterns and rights to replicate haute couturier designs. This specific dress were commissioned by Irma Ulrich. #Fashionhistory

This is a very different little black dress to yesterday’s Dior offering. Mid #1950s, it was designed by Irene Galitzine, combining dense black and sheer beautifully #V_and_A #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Red and navy blue always a winner in my estimation and this Worth gown uses the brightest of reds to punctuate the details of their mid #1890s design. Nicely nautical for seaside promenading #NGVMelbourne #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

The seemingly casual twist of fabric is always so much more under closer inspection. Dior’s 1951 cocktail dress moved away from the expansive skirts of his first collections and offered the ‘ligne longue’ as a chic little cocktail silhouette #NtlMuseumsScot #KelvingroveArt #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Can any #fashionhistory colleagues recommend a comprehensive history of British/Irish/European menswear? I'm trying to date some early 20thC election imagery and the shirt collars seem to be the garments with the most variation.
