Operation Spotted Crake continues... Some lovely muddy edges around Newton Pool now but still no crake unfortunately, the clock is ticking !

Repeatedly scanning the pool margins has resulted in Water Rails most nights...

It's been an amazing year for Hummingbird Hawkmoths in our tiny garden. We don't get them every year and it's always a treat to see one. This year we've seen seven ! Today this hummer was feeding on our lavender for a couple of minutes, just enough time to grab the camera.

Sandwich Tern from Bydales Car Park this morning. Also while watching the Curlew Sandpiper at Redcar, this Goosander flew east. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social #UKBirding #NEBirding

Juvenile knot on Spanish Battery Rocks, Tynemouth this morning. It's always good to see something other than the usual oycs, redshanks, turnstones and curlews here. #nebirding #patchbirding

A pretty dire Monday evening coast trip (for birds) was saved by this Didea fasciata male, my first of the year. #flies #insects #NEbirding
