Goodnight Bluesky Folks

This Wednesday’s evening post showcases a stunning garden Dahlia. I apologise for the repetition but they’re a favourite of mine. The photo was taken with my Canon EOS R50

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #CanonR50

The photo features a close-up of a single open dahlia bloom set against dark foliage:
Petals: Eight smooth, broad petals with a gradient ranging from golden yellow at the outer edges to a warm, soft orange-red flush near the center.
Center: A dark burgundy central disc surrounded by a ring of yellow-tipped stamens.
Background & Foliage: Dark, moody foliage with deep purple-to-black leaves and several unopened flower buds nestled in the shadows.
Details: Direct lighting highlights the texture of the flower, revealing minor natural imperfections like tiny dark specks and a small notch on the bottom edge of one petal.

Begonia maculata, with a developing flower bud. Had this for years but it always seems to lose most of its leaves over winter so I'm starting from scratch in the spring. Will try it in a warmer spot this year perhaps 🌱🪴

Cover crops can improve #soilhealth, nutrient cycling and biodiversity, but their benefits are not always straightforward. We welcome research that quantifies trade-offs, synergies and real-world outcomes across agricultural systems.

We bought this Aeonium glandulosum at the National Cactus and Succulent Show in June but only repot it into a bigger pot recently and suddenly it's pretty massive. It's another species that grows as a single flat rosette. #aeonium #succulents #plantsky #gardensky #GardensHour
