"When they get overgrown like this, you let them grow new roots."

Jacek's chubby hands touched the stem gently. He didn't quite understand what mama was saying, but he had learned enough about her garden to know that you don't squeeze the stems of the plants too hard or they broke.

"Do you remember what this plant is, my little Hyacinth?" Mama always spoke in Eorzean when babcia wasn't there to criticize her accent.

"Issa hebbe-oar."

"That's right, it's a hellebore. Very good!" Mama tucked a strand of long hair behind Jacek's ear. "You'll be mama's helper when you're grown, won't you? You'll help me tend the garden, little Hyacinth?"

"Yah!" Jacek yelled, clapping his hands together.

while searching for spare weather appropriate attire, amaris and her father have a small heart-to-heart

[ #📝 | #ffxivwrite2026 | #ffxivwrite ]

Amaris and her father, Mikos, dig through chests in search of spare cloaks for her journey into Coerthas. As they do, Cid and Alphinaud
— but mostly Alphinaud — chat at length with her mother, Marga.

As bright of personalities as the Stiel family is, the house this full was a rarity. Something special that she knew her mother always enjoyed.

"Your mother seems to enjoy their company. You have some unique friends, Goobbue." Mikos chuckles. "Makes me almost wish I could come with you on this journey."

Amaris' eyes flicker from Cid and Alphinaud to her father.

"It would be too dangerous." She says quickly, a small frown pulling at her lips.

"I'm your father, nothing is too dangerous when it comes to you." He rebuttals.

"Then why aren't you insisting on coming with us?" Amaris asks, genuine. Mikos looks off into the distance, his sight going past her travel companions."You're growing up. Into something I never imagined for you, but growing up nonetheless." He says, his gaze still far. "T'll be here to catch you if you fall, but what good would I be if I hung on your coattails?"

Amaris' face softens and her brow furrows. "Do you promise?"

"I promise. Me and your Mother, both." He flashes an almost identical look before pulling into a teasing grin. "Though if you don't start sending updates — true ones — to us on your whereabouts, we may have an issue.”

Amaris' eyes widen for a moment in embarrassment before nudging him with her shoulder. "I'll write more, I swear!" She exclaims before settling again. "Thank you, Dad...I love you."

"I love you too." He replies, a warm smile on his face. "Now let's get your friends set up with something to keep them warm on this next venture, eh?"

"Okay!"

Prior to the Scions' departure to Garlemald, Sorcha gifts Nayra a scarf to help ward off the cold.

Sorcha glanced over her shoulder to see Nayra spreading her arms wide before the tall mirror, head tilted to the side as she waited for Sorcha’s verdict on her newest gear: a thick, fur-lined cream coat, complete with its matching pair of gloves and earmuffs. Cute, Sorcha couldn’t help but think, and the color suited Nayra well. From what she had heard from Thancred earlier, Tataru seemed to have put their tastes and preferences into mind when she had prepared the coats. But Nayra’s neck was still somewhat bare. Sorcha returned her attention to her task at hand until she found the thick scarf lodged deep in her drawer. She hooked her fingers around the pale brown fabric and pulled it out.

“You can’t stand the cold,” she said, moving to stand in front of Nayra. Then she wrapped the scarf around Nayra’s neck—one loop, then another, before draping each end of the scarf down her front and back.

G'raha and Deryk lend their aid to the Valentione's Day patisserie efforts.

"How can I help, truly? You are far more skilled in matters of patisserie than I, but I take direction well."

"That you do." G'raha pointed to a block of dark chocolate and the heavy-handled knife resting beside it. "Can you chop that while I work on the rolanberries? I think a ganache will be just the thing to ice these cakes with."

"I think I can manage that, aye."

"You'll want to get the pieces pretty fine, so be mindful of how warm your hands get. Run them under some cold water if you need to." G'raha leaned in close again, rising up on the balls of his feet so he could murmur into the Deryk's ear, "If you're very good, and you follow all my instructions just so, I might even let you lick the spoon when we're done."
