I wish I could vote for Jennifer Reddy one more time, but instead I will wish her a restful break and instead vote for others on the @onecityvan.bsky.social slate who I trust will equally put kids at the heart of all decisions with Jen’s experience in the background still supporting them. 10/X

Its also why the first two votes on my ballot will go to Sherry Breashers (#321) of One City and Suzie Mah of COPE as I’ve seen both of these strong education advocates fight for kids in VSB over the past few years. 9/X

While these scores alone are concerning, what is worse is the way that VSB staff in leadership positions report these conclusions out at Districts Board meetings, where results are sanitized into simplistic Power Points presented to Stakeholders with their own bad math interpretations: 6/X

Power Point slide showing improvements to Grade 4 and 7 literacy rates and Grade 10 numeracy rates; with decreasing scores for Grade 4 and Grade 7 numeracy; and stable Grade 10 literacy rates. There is a footnote about the sub-population scores being lower. The numbers used to create the VSB interpretation suggests they considered only the trend between the past two years (plus or munis) for this slide, rather than considering the 5 year trend which shows a much different conclusion than what I've summarized above.

Thank you @e-van-mama.bsky.social for your careful insights & endorsement. We need to pay attention to this data & do everything possible to turn around literacy, numeracy and graduation rates for all marginalized learners at the VSB. Vote OneCity Vancouver! @onecityvan.bsky.social

Commute got you down? We can fix that. OneCity Candidate Iona Bonamis 陶思穎 outlines Project Greenlight, which could save you weeks of your life in traffic.

If you want City Hall to help you get you where you're going faster, volunteer, donate, and VOTE OneCity.

I'm very proud of the Labour Manifesto released by @onecityvan.bsky.social today.
We are committed to supporting every worker and creating good job opportunities, beginning with strong training programs for our youth, and procurement policies that serve Vancouverites.

This is how a mayoral candidate and political party gets my vote: telling me clearly, proudly and joyfully what side they’re on, who they listen to, and how they think about solving problems. Happy Labour Day, Vancouver! #vanpoli

Part of OneCity’s frustration is that every day they’re putting out a multi-platform policy announcement like this while Pete Fry announces nothing and every day part of the conversation is “you’re at 5% in the polls, please consider dropping out”

Proud to be a public sector union member, and even prouder to support @onecityvan.bsky.social and @wazaroff.bsky.social’s policies to strengthen labour in our city!

My mom worked as a nurse here in Vancouver for 31 years & while it wasn’t always easy, she was able to raise my sister & me on her own and provide us a good life.

Her union made that possible.

Right now, AI regulation is the Wild West. Someone can walk into a community centre, a change room, or a public pool wearing a covert recording device that's quietly recording everything around them, and current rules don’t do enough. 1/2

this is one of those obvious things that is easy to understand and like with a lot of technology where people are being harassed or distressed at massive levels, we could have governments that regulate for the public good or say "this is very hard so we'll study this for years and then do nothing"

Waiting for someone to actually *do something* about Big Tech?

You should be able to trust that you're not being recorded at the gym, pool, or park.

William Azaroff and OneCity have a plan for that.

OneCity Vancouver policy announcement graphic. Headline reads "OneCity Policy Announcement: Improving Privacy and Safety in Public — With Eyes Off, a policy regulating AI recording devices in public spaces and buildings." A red "Learn More" button appears at right. Below, illustrations show a man and a woman wearing a hijab standing together in front of a house and apartment building, and a woman playing volleyball nearby.Slide titled "The Problem" with OneCity Vancouver logo at top right. Bullet points read: "Big Tech has rolled out glasses and other tools to record everything, everywhere, all the time. Workers on the job, children on the playground, and women and diverse persons just trying to live their lives are all being recorded." "Nobody consented to any of this." "The City currently has no regulation, but we have the power to change that." "Big Tech wants us to 'trust them', and most politicians want to wait and see, but William Azaroff and OneCity know that we can do something about this before it gets worse." Below, illustrations show a woman playing volleyball, a house, an apartment building, and a food vendor on a bicycle cart, framed by corner brackets like a camera viewfinder with a red "REC" recording indicator in the top right corner.Slide titled "We can do more" listing what the Eyes Off policy would establish: a definition of Wearable Recording Devices; standards for parks, pools & public spaces; a "Privacy-First Vancouver" certification for organizations committed to no covert recording; and a requirement for sensitive business classes (like medical and exercise facilities) to adopt similar standards. Text below reads: "Vancouverites should be able to work and play in our public spaces without being secretly recorded. William Azaroff & the OneCity team have a plan to make that happen." As a parent, I know going out as a family to visit local attractions is often not cheap. That's why @onecityvan.bsky.social has announced our Library Card+ proposal, which will give families the opportunity to pre-load their library cards with discounted passes to a range of places across the city.

I deeply appreciate the support of climate activist, author, and friend @sethdklein.bsky.social

I’ve long admired his activism and enjoyed working together to advocate to keep fossil fuels out of buildings in Vancouver.

This is the plan I’ve been waiting to see. This is what we need to keep art and culture thriving in Vancouver, and I say this both as the managing director of a 45-year old established theatre company and venue, and as a burlesque performer on the independent cabaret scene
