Thank you @e-van-mama.bsky.social for your careful insights & endorsement. We need to pay attention to this data & do everything possible to turn around literacy, numeracy and graduation rates for all marginalized learners at the VSB. Vote OneCity Vancouver! @onecityvan.bsky.social

I wish I could vote for Jennifer Reddy one more time, but instead I will wish her a restful break and instead vote for others on the @onecityvan.bsky.social slate who I trust will equally put kids at the heart of all decisions with Jen’s experience in the background still supporting them. 10/X
Its also why the first two votes on my ballot will go to Sherry Breashers (#321) of One City and Suzie Mah of COPE as I’ve seen both of these strong education advocates fight for kids in VSB over the past few years. 9/X
The majority of our current trustees have been rubber-stamping VSB budgets and plans with little input and oversight on issues that truly matter to families in our city and the futures of these students 8/X.
By voting for trustees who's purpose is truly to support our education system and not just using this upcoming election as a stepping stone to their political career ambitions your vote can make a difference. 7/X
While these scores alone are concerning, what is worse is the way that VSB staff in leadership positions report these conclusions out at Districts Board meetings, where results are sanitized into simplistic Power Points presented to Stakeholders with their own bad math interpretations: 6/X
Language scores are not much better and show drops of more than 10% over the past 5 years, with particularly low scores for indigenous students and students with disabilities: 5/X
While FSA test are not perfect, they are at tool that districts are currently required to use to show how our kids are doing, and this year’s data does not look good - especially when it comes to math: 4/X
The education of well being of kids in this city has taken a back seat to these issues and VSBs own data clearly shows this. 3/X
Over the past few years, a lot of things have been going on behind closed doors within the Vancouver School Board regarding land sales, legal disputes, bloated district admin costs, critical staff members on leave, and silencing of parent and public voices. 2/X
