@murdochstephens.bsky.socialLooking forward to joining all @bookhavennz.bsky.social haven next Thursday and taking the shears to both concepts.
@bookhavennz.bsky.socialReposted by @murdochstephens.bsky.socialOn Thursday 22 Oct at 6.30pm we’ve got Murdoch Stephens in BookHaven talking about his new book ‘Pākehā Metaphysics’
If you’ve got no idea what Pākehā Metaphysics means, nor do we! So come along and find out by joining in a kōrero with the wonderful @murdochstephens.bsky.social #Pākehā #metaphysics
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialThanks Sean! Doing my best to articulate something... who knew that metaphysics was the synthesis or all those discussions about whether ontology or epistemology are primary!
@sean-phelan.bsky.socialReposted by @murdochstephens.bsky.social@murdochstephens.bsky.social is always-already sharp and on form...worth reading for the photo caption alone.
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialHopefully by Halloween! 👻🎃
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialA triumph!
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialWait, is Giovanni just Italian of Geoff????!!!
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialHe's a Stephen but goes by Steve, so I am assuming he's just doing his bit to lure me into easing the historical Catholic/Protestant tensions around naming. Personally, I see no reason whey we shouldn't all just adopt Stevphen.
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialAutofiction is a bit different, tbh, though and I am a huge fan of the New Narrative movement (Kevin Killian and Dodie Bellamy) plus all the French folks, though Édouard Levé sort of jumped the shark on it.
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialAnother fantastic one is from Graeme Clark 'It's Not My Fault!' www.socialistsocieties.org.nz/aec_events/b...
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialI have a new rule on memoir/autobiography: only read those from retired folks, with no ghost writer, and not smoothed out by too much editing. Recent successes in the genre: Ann Beaglehole's 'How to be an Alien' - www.thepost.co.nz/culture/3609...
@murdochstephens.bsky.socialIn which I dig a hole, leap in and then dig my way out: newsroom.co.nz/2026/10/07/n...
